Dr. Ross and Pat were among more than 350 leading national and international attendees as well as renowned clinicians and academicians who gathered together for discussions on new research, technological developments and the expading role of lasers in dental care during the Academy of Laser Dentistry’s Fifteenth Annual Conference and Exhibition held in April in San Diego, CA.

As lasers have become a well accepted part of routine dental care, new procedures are being established. Clinical protocols are presented for discussion and refinement at this meeting long before they are recommended to dentists. Members from around the world shared their clinical and research findings with the attendees. General and scientific sessions, hands-on workshops and participation courses, panel discussions and daily question and answer sessions were the format for this meeting.

Aside from this meeting being held in one of the most beautiful parts of our great country, both members of our team came back brimming with new information and excitement to share with us and you.

Lumix 2So, the newest addition to our office is the Lumix 2 laser. It is a low level cold laser and benefits patients with long term tissue repair and reduction of inflammation. It is extremely beneficial to patients for enhanced tissue healing. The majority of people associate the use of lasers in dentistry and medicine with their use as cutting tools in surgery. There are, however, numerous other highly useful and effective therapeutic uses for cold lasers in the dental sciences.

One of the most exciting of these is laser biostimulation. This involves the application of high intensity, non-destructive laser light that activates cellular growth, healing and repair. The photons used in these cases act as the medicinal agent, providing desensitization to a variety of hard and soft tissues.

Laser treatments are not restricted to hard tissue applications for desensitization. Studies have demonstrated the pain and inflammation reducing/desensitizing effects on gum tissue, tendons, ligaments, muscles and nerves as well.

In fact, there are over 230 positive studies done by 81 universities from 37 different countries that show a success rate of from 80% to 95% when high intensity laser biostimulation is used for desensitization and healing support on more than 24 different dental applications, including tooth sensitivities, periodontal disease, neuralgia, headaches, implant integration, apthous ulcers, surgical wounds, scars, pulpitis, bone loss, TMD and orthodontics.

Our new laser is the first and only high intensity cold laser system dedicated to laser biostimulation for dental professionals. It maintains a safe and gentle average power to do the healing work. And patients love the fast results with pain relief and swelling reduction.

Be sure to ask up about the healing benefits of this new technology.
